Ollie Kitchen & Bar Review: A classic burger restaurant

Three years ago, when I used to own a pop-up store in Orchard, I used to pass this restaurant a lot because it was near my store. Even back then, I heard good things about their classic burger. Recently, I was in the area one evening and decided to have dinner there.

Since it was 7pm on a Friday, the restaurant was pretty packed. Even so, it didn’t take long for the waitress to find me a seat. The restaurant wasn’t big, but they managed to make the inside nice and spacious. The simple décor and wooden tables gave the place a nice laid-back feeling.

Their menu wasn’t very big, but it had a nice selection. There were mains like steaks and burgers, pizzas, pastas, salads and appetizers. I love bacon burgers, so I ordered a bacon and egg cheeseburger with mushroom soup.

The mushroom soup was a bit watery but the taste was good, really nothing to write home about. The burger had a beef patty, but you could substitute it with pork or chicken, a fried egg, two slices of bacon, cheese and lettuce. The patty was slightly on the dry side and the egg was a bit burnt, but the bacon was nice and crispy and the bun had their logo printed on it. It was also accompanied by a side of warm and crispy truffle fries that got you hooked on the first bite.

In conclusion, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, the food was good and it was very affordable. I’ll definitely be back and next time, maybe I’ll give their fish and chips a try.
