Jay Oh Chula: Famous Tom Yum Mama Noodle in Bangkok

How good can mama noodles taste? Extremely good especially from Jay Oh Chula.

It was midnight and I was feeling hungry. Instead of the usual Tom Yum Kun, Green Curry Chicken, Mookata, I was looking at something completely different. I did some online searching and found Jeh O.

It was not too near to my hotel, but since GRAB was affordable, I decided it was worth trying out.

THE EXPERIENCE

When I arrived, I could see a crowd gathering outside the restaurant, buzzing with people. It was full house, and the waiting time will be at least 30 minutes. I was then given a queue number. Since they closed at 3am, I had all the time to wait since I have travelled all the way here.

After about 15 minutes, my queue number was called up and I was ushered to my table. The patrons were busy chatting and enjoying what they were served. Without further wait, I went on to order a pot of Tom Yum Mama Noodles.

After about 15 minutes, I saw a man carrying a big pot of Tom Yum Mama Noodles and I was wondering who had such big appetite. Suddenly, he placed the pot in front of me. I asked him if the order was correct and yes, it was. WOW! This is small and I thought this is large. Apart from the size of it, the dish looked beautiful. If you like to take photos for Instagram, you would not want to miss this. The taste was perfectly spicy and the ingredients were plentiful. The 1 ingredient that I have to compliment on is their Crispy Pork Belly, it was well fried, crispy on the skin and tender on the meat. There were meatballs in there, egg, prawns and so on… the dish was just too mind-blowing for me.

THE OUTCOME

Let’s be honest, for mama noodles to taste this good and affordable, I was impressed. Jeh O becomes a must-visit place for me whenever I stepped into Thailand, Bangkok.
